The University of Houston-Clear Lake is pleased to announce that the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has extended its accreditation to the College of Business through 2029-2030. AACSB accreditation is known, worldwide, as the longest-standing, most recognized form of specialized accreditation that an institution and its business programs can earn. Accreditation is a voluntary, nongovernmental process that includes a rigorous external review of a school's mission, faculty qualifications, curricula, and ability to provide the highest-quality programs.

“Overall, AACSB accreditation signifies that UHCL is dedicated to continuous improvement and providing a world-class education in business and accounting,” said Dr. Edward Waller, Dean of the College of Business.

Only 6% of the world’s business degree granting entities are AACSB accredited, while only 1% of the world’s business degree granting entities have earned separate accounting accreditation. UHCL is one of only two universities with a physical main campus in the Houston metropolitan area that have both business and separate accounting accreditation. Being an AACSB-accredited university provides benefits both to current and future students within the College of Business.

“The accreditation ensures that students receive a high-quality education recognized globally for its excellence,” Waller said. “Accredited schools adhere to rigorous standards, which means students are taught by qualified faculty, engage in relevant and challenging coursework, and have access to resources that foster academic and professional growth.”

He also said the accreditation makes a college degree from UHCL more valuable, giving graduates more of an edge when applying for jobs. It also better positions students to advance in their careers, as it creates more opportunities for networking, internships, and collaborations with renowned companies.
