UHCL to host Greater Houston Area Virtual STEM Conference

University of Houston-Clear Lake will host the annual Greater Houston Area Virtual STEM Conference, Saturday, March 6, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. More than 200 educators from over 20 school districts in the Houston-Galveston and surrounding areas will attend this one-day event.

The conference, titled "STEM Innovations and Impact on Educational Communities," will span five sessions encompassing 31 presentations. Professor of Research and Applied Statistics Michelle Peters from UH-Clear Lake's College of Education is chairing the event.

"STEM education is the key to our future," Peters said. "Educators have a good grasp on the key components of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, but struggle to gain a better understanding what STEM should look like, sound like, and feel like in the classroom."

Peters added that this conference was a practitioner-based event designed for anyone who wants to learn more about STEM classroom instruction. "We'll cover extracurricular activities, issues with diversity and inclusion, importance of leadership in fostering a STEM school culture and much more," she said.

Teachers who attend will receive six hours of continuing professional education credits (CPE).
