UHCL fall 2022 commencement to take place at NRG Arena
Over 1,000 University of Houston-Clear Lake summer and fall 2022 graduates will earn their degrees and be recognized during a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. for the Colleges of Human Sciences and Humanities, and Science and Engineering, and 3 p.m. for the Colleges of Business and Education at NRG Arena, 1 NRG Parkway, Houston.
Of the approximately 1,000 graduates, 664 will receive their undergraduate degree, and 344 will be recognized for receiving graduate degrees.
The Colleges of Education and Business will confer degrees to 195 and 307 graduates, respectively, including 13 COE graduates who will be receiving doctorates. The College of Science and Engineering will confer 246 degrees, and the College of Human Sciences and Humanities will confer 260, including six students who will receive doctorates.
Melissa Loera, who is receiving her Bachelor of Arts in History, will be delivering the student address at the earlier ceremony. During her time at UH-Clear Lake, she served as a senator for the College of Human Sciences and Humanities in Student Government and volunteered as an orientation leader for incoming students. She plans to apply to law school after graduation.
The commencement speaker for the second ceremony is Oscar Lazaro, who is receiving his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from the College of Business. He served as president of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos, Hispanics and Native Americans in Science and will be employed by S&P Global Commodity Insights Commercial Graduate Program after graduation.
There is no limit to the number guests that can attend for each graduate. Tickets are not required to attend.
This fall's candidates will join over 73,000 others who have graduated from the university. UHCL began as an upper-level university in 1974, admitting juniors, seniors and graduate students. The university expanded to admit underclassmen in 2014.
