University of Houston-Clear Lake  is proud to announce its strategic expansion into the heart of the Texas Medical Center (TMC). UHCL has signed a lease agreement for a state-of-the-art facility at 6624 Fannin St., Houston, occupying the entire 14th floor within a Texas Children’s Hospital-owned building.

This prime location positions students and faculty in the University’s Healthcare Administration program at the center of a global leader in medical research and innovation, offering a unique and unparalleled educational experience.

The expansion at TMC underscore the program’s dedication to providing its students with extraordinary learning opportunities and experiences, equipping them to engage with leading healthcare professionals and contribute to groundbreaking research, ultimately advancing the field of healthcare administration.

UHCL’s undergraduate and graduate programs have always been offered in the Texas Medical Center, the largest center of healthcare delivery and research in the world. “This strategic move will foster increased collaboration, internship and networking opportunities, providing our students with an unparalleled educational experience,” said UHCL President Richard Walker.

Walker added that although the lease has been signed, there was still much work to complete, and the relocation process would proceed in two phases.

“The first phase, which we anticipate to be complete in early fall 2023, includes preparing the classrooms and computer labs to accommodate students and faculty. Our goal is to create an inspiring and collaborative learning environment, equipped with cutting-edge technology.”

The focus of the second phase, Walker said, is developing other areas of the location, such as administrative offices, meeting areas and common spaces, with more information and a timeline to be shared soon.

“This is a significant milestone for our Healthcare Administration program,” said Dean of the College of Business Edward Waller. “The expansion at the Texas Medical Center will enhance the overall quality of our program, solidify our program’s position as one of the top healthcare administration programs in Texas, and help us continue to shape the future leaders in healthcare administration.”

UHCL’s Healthcare Administration program includes bachelor’s degrees in healthcare administration and healthcare services, a master’s degree in healthcare administration, and a joint master of healthcare administration/master of business administration. The program’s alumni have served in many of the hospitals that comprise the Texas Medical Center as well as other leading medical facilities throughout the country.
