Career Services at UHCL continues assisting students online

Career Services at University of Houston-Clear Lake offers a variety of services to assist students and alumni with career exploration and career counseling. Despite the closures necessitated by the COVID-19 virus, many services can still be accessed online.

“Right now, Career Services is offering job search help in the form of resume and cover letter reviewing, interview coaching and job search tips,” said Director of Career Services Chuck Crocker. “All this can be done online. People can submit their documents to careeradvisers@uhcl.edu. Students can also visit with a career counselor via phone or Zoom conference. Set up an appointment by emailing careerservices@uhcl.edu.”

Career Services is available to help students who would like to begin their job search or start developing a career path, even if it’s their first year in college.

“For finding current job openings, internships and virtual career events, students can utilize our free Jobs4hawks/Handshake system,” Crocker said. “All students have an account, they just need to use their campus login to get started. Visit www.uhcl.edu/career-services/students/on-campus-jobs/.”

He added that his office was in the developmental stages of offering virtual hiring events for students. “I hope to get more information about that soon,” he said. “Right now, my staff and I are reviewing a lot of resumes via email.”
