CANCELED: UHCL hosts 4th Annual Homecoming and Family Weekend April 3-4

UPDATE (March 12): This event has been canceled. For information, contact the Orientation and New Student Programs at orientation@uhcl.edu or 281-283-2420.

The University of Houston-Clear Lake will host the 4th Annual Homecoming and Family Weekend for students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community April 3-4. All are invited to celebrate UHCL and explore the growing campus at one of the university’s newest campus traditions.

“We want to encourage our current students to come out and bring along anyone they consider to be family, whether it be friends, relatives or fellow classmates,” said Angie Montelongo, director of Orientation and New Student Programs.

The festivities kick off April 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Recreation and Wellness Center with the “Taste of Clear Lake” Pizza Edition and Game Night, a pizza tasting contest to choose the official pizza of UHCL. Events continue throughout Saturday, including the first-ever Alumni Brunch at 10 a.m., the 31st Annual Chili Cook-Off from noon – 4 p.m., and a chance to see the new on-campus residence hall at the Hunter Hall Open House at 1 p.m. There also will be activities for the whole family to enjoy, like hunting for Easter eggs with UHCL’s mascot Hunter the Hawk at 2 p.m., outdoor games, inflatables and music.

“Homecoming and Family Weekend is targeted at the entire UHCL family,” said Carri Hill, director of Alumni Engagement at UHCL. “We want everyone to come out, enjoy the day and make connections.”

Those who wish to participate as a team in the Chili Cook-Off for a chance to win the coveted trophy of “Best Chili” can pay a $40 entry fee through the end of February on the UHCL website. Attendees who wish to taste chili and enjoy the event can buy a tasting kit for $5.

Most events are free to attend but require RSVP. Register for Homecoming and Family Weekend events online. On-site registration will be available throughout the weekend at each event.
